Dr. James C. Jackson, Co-Director of the NPG Medical Advisory Board and our Dementia Specialist, is an internationally renowned expert in the cognitive and mental health effects of critical illnesses, including Long Covid. A licensed psychologist with specialization in neuropsychology and rehabilitation, Dr. Jackson completed his residency at the Veteran’s Affairs/Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Consortium and post-doctoral training at the Oliver Zangwill Center in England. He is a pioneer in the study and treatment of Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) and serves as the Director of Behavioral Health at Vanderbilt’s ICU Recovery Center. Additionally, he directs Long-Term Outcomes at the Critical Illness, Brain Dysfunction, and Survivorship (CIBS) Center. Dr. Jackson's prolific research, published in top journals and recognized by leading media outlets, has significantly advanced the understanding of brain dysfunction following critical illness. His expertise is integral to NPG Brain & Concussion’s mission, enhancing our ability to provide exceptional care and recovery for concussion patients and those with long-term brain health needs.
